There’s rock, there’s country, disco, easy-listening, rap, and a million other genres. I guess at one time Willie could have been considered country-western, but not anymore. His music is simply so original, there doesn’t seem to be a genre in which it can fit. It sort of reminds me of the Beatles after their second decade.

The first decade my parents were yelling ‘Turn the dam stereo down’, as I was singing along with ‘Please Please Me’ and other rock greats, and then not many years later they had ‘Michelle’ playing at their own cocktail parties along with other Beatle greats.  Some artists just can’t be pigeonholed and  Willie is one of them.”
